Years ago, some friends and mentors of mine went on a 3 week trip rowing down through the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River. They told me that it was the trip of a life time for them, and believe me, they've been on many peoples' "trip of a lifetime" before, so I took it serious. I finally was invited on a trip of a life time with a group of river rats that had spent more time at the bottom of the Big Ditch than out of it. My 18 day journey from Phantom Ranch to Pearce Ferry lived up to everything that my friends had mentioned. Life threatening rapids, endless side canyons, and waterfalls out of a fairy tale.
